Following the Alphabet Monsters in Lincoln Yards – A Chicago Street Art Photo Walk
by jazminmarie United States, Illinois, Chicago
One of my favorite activities during summer time Chicago is taking advantage of all of the free artwork everywhere. With Chicago Street Art you can easily fill days worth of an itinerary with art walks and photo opportunities. I’ve recently discovered a new favorite of mine that’s called the Alphabet Monster and is located in Chicago’s Lincoln Yards area.
What are the Alphabet Monsters?
The Alphabet Monsters are a cute and colorful project created by graffiti artist Merlot. Merlot is known for creating gorgeous typography around the city and was commissioned by Sterling Bay to bring the Lincoln Yards industrial area to life with color. The Alphabet Monsters is a part of a rotating art piece in the Lincoln Yards; definitely make sure to check it out and see what updates there are.
How to Find the Alphabet Monsters?
As soon as you’re in the Lincoln Yards area, you’re bound to walk into a letter or two. I initially discovered this art installation on accident and then started looking for the rest of the letters on purpose. If you have some time (and the weather isn’t too sticky) discovering all the letters yourself is actually really fun, but if you don’t have the time I actually have a list of all the letters and the address is below.

Did you spot the Alphabet Monsters?
Did you spend time looking for the Alphabet Monster yourself? Let me know in the comments below! Unfortunately I didn’t see it every single letter out there so I would love to know if you found any of the letters that I don’t have listed above. These art pieces are located on tops of buildings, garage doors, and even in alleys tucked away so finding the missing letters will surely be an adventure.
