Accessories You Need Before Traveling to Chicago in the Wintertime
by jazminmarie United States, Illinois, Chicago
I’m a huge fan of summertime Chicago, but if you’ve seen those cheap tickets online you know that wintertime Chicago is something worth checking out too. If you aren’t used to the cold, your time Chicago is going to be a huge surprise so I’ve listed some items you should pack to make your winter time in Chicago more bearable.
Best Accessories for Traveling to Chicago During the Colder Months
Rechargeable Hand Warmer
Cold hands during winter time are painful, extend your time outside by packing a rechargeable hand warmer. Do your future self a favor and purchase a rechargeable hand warmer so you aren’t second-guessing every moment that you have to take your hands out of your pockets. Single use hand warmers exist and I used to use them, but in the long run having a rechargeable device just makes more sense.
Warm, Anti Slip Gloves
If hand warmers aren’t your thing, you should at least check out anti slip gloves. Anti-slip gloves allow you to keep snapping photos, texting back your friends and cover your skin from being exposed to the harsh elements. If you found a prettier air of gloves but they aren’t anti slip, you can purchase anti-slip stickers that give regular gloves the ability to worth with iphone screens.
A Thermal Set: Tops & Bottoms
An important layer during Chicago’s winter months are thermal underwear. Thermal underwear allows you to keep your body warm while still looking cute, by being able to layer under your regular clothing. This additional warmth will be a huge life saver & allow you to travel further in the cold. If your space is limited, thermals are the best way to pack some warmth without carrying too much.
Definitely a Hat or at least Ear Warmers.
A basic beanie works wonders, or at least ear warmers. Your future self will thank you. There’s nothing worse than having burning tingling ears because they’re left out in the cold. You can also get a bluetooth beanie for when you want to stay warm and listen along to the free walking tours I listed in Chicago.

I recently created an Instagram account where I share a short recap of my adventure with a few facts about the location. It’s still new so there isn’t that much on there in comparison to my blog, but I plant to add so much more. I appreciate the support!
Leaving in a hot country, I am pretty useless knowing what to wear in cold climates. Never heard of hand warmers before, what a great idea!
