As someone who enjoys routine, I initially found travel days to be a bit stressful. I was anxious about forgetting any reservations, showing up late or losing money by mistake that I was overlooking all the positive changes that happen while you’re on the road. When I reminded myself why I was traveling, I was able to enjoy the travel experience more and so I’m listing all the reasons why I enjoy traveling. Here are my favorite reasons to travel and why you should too:
Reasons Why I Love Traveling:
Reason #1 To Try Something New
When is the last time you tried something new? As someone who enjoys routine, I find myself doing the same activities more often than not and traveling gives me a reason to try something I’ve never done before. Constantly trying new things allows you to discover passions you truly enjoy and not just activities you do for the sake of staying the same.
Reason #2 To Explore the Unknown
Similar to trying new things, travel allows you to explore the unknown. Instead of just finding one or two activities you’ve never tried before, experiencing a whole location that is different from home is also something that I like to enjoy. As someone who has grown up and was raised in the city, I was surprised to enjoy the countryside of my states because I thought living in a city was a part of my identity — thankfully I’m more than the location I’m born in.
Reason #3 To Experience How Others Live
Being able to experience how others live, allows you to gain perspective that you otherwise wouldn’t have. There’s nothing more I like them being able to slow travel and experience life differently than my norm; sometimes I even catch myself reflecting on how different my life would be if this were my normal.
Reason #4 To Reflect on Who I Am
What type of person am I when everything goes right and what type of person do I become when everything goes wrong? Traveling has allowed me to reflect on the woman I’m becoming in both fun and stressful situations that are out of my element. This experience can only be attained through travel and I’m grateful for the new found confidence I have after doing so.
Reason #5 To Gain Experience
My last favorite reason to travel is because it allows me to gain experience. There’s nothing I cherish more than the memories that I created while on the road and there’s no one I enjoy more, than the woman I become while I’m traveling. Every trip creates more stories and lessons that you can keep with you for the rest of your life.
Why Do You Love Traveling?
Did I list one of the reasons you love traveling or is there something I need to add to the list? I love to hear your favorite parts about traveling to hopefully inspire others to finally get out there and book that trip.
