Eating Restaurant Leftovers in Chicago – Trying the Too Good To Go App in Chicago, Illinois
by jazminmarie United States, Illinois, Chicago
As someone who enjoys budget travel, I’m always looking for more ways to save money while traveling. Food is my third biggest expense while on the road (less than transportation and lodging) and it can quickly get pricey. I found an app that allows you to purchase delicious meals at a lower cost to combat global food waste. Here is my (unsponsored) review of the app Too Good To Go:
My Review of Using the Too Good To Go App in Chicago, Illinois:
What is Too Good To Go?
Have you ever wondered what a restaurant does with unsold food at the end of the day? In most cases, if the food is not donated, then it is thrown away. The app Too Good To Go connects interested customers to restaurants with unsold food; stopping food waste by giving this food a second chance before it’s thrown away.
How Easy is Too Good To Go to Use in Chicago?
It’s really easy to use the Too Good To Go app! After signing up and putting in your location they show you available deals nearby. When you find an establishment that you want to try, you purchase their Surprise Bag between the price of $3.99 – $6.99 and see your scheduled pick-up time. When you arrive at the establishment all you need to say is that you have a Too Good To Go order, flash them your phone screen that will have a confirmation code and you will get your discounted meal in no time.

My Review of Too Good To Go in Chicago, Illinois:
I really enjoyed using this app and I plan to use it in my everyday life. There are so many benefits to using the app that the only downside is when there is nothing available. I have nothing but positive things to say about the app and the establishments that I got to visit during my review.
Ultimately I really enjoy using the app and I plan to keep this downloaded on my phone so that I can find cheap food options available near me wherever I am; this app has availability in more than just Chicago so you should check their locations for wherever you are. There are times when there just isn’t any options available, but this is still a great resource for solo women travelers on the road looking to save some money on food.
I get to visit different places.
It’s true that Google shows you restaurants with the best reviews and the most mentions online. Seeing the availability of the Too Good To Go app allowed me to discover new places that I otherwise wouldn’t hear about. I was surprised with how many local restaurants are participating in the Too Good To Go community because I expected it to be full of franchises, I was wrong.
I get to try different foods.
The orders on the Too Good To Go app is referred to as Surprise Bags. Besides knowing the general theme of the restaurant, customers have no idea what’s going to be included in the Surprise Bag. Not only do I enjoy going to a new place, but I enjoyed having a surprising mixture of what they had available.
I get to save money & food from being wasted.
Saving money while still getting the try different restaurants is enough for me to try it, but there are more benefits. You get to save food from being wasted and get a major discount on a delicious meal. Over 1/3 of the world’s food is wasted and every time you make an order through that you got to go up you are saving a meal.
