How to Save for Travel When You’re Low on Money – Start a Travel Fund with No Money
by jazminmarie
A big reason why people don’t travel more frequently is because of money. If travel is not a priority in your life, then meeting those budgeting goals may not happen as frequently – I have an alternative for you! I recently learned about an app that allows people to earn points by documenting their purchases; those points hold a nominal value and you can exchange them for gift cards. It may initially sound complicated, but it’s as simple as remembering to take a picture of a receipt after you buy something. This new opportunity makes budgeting for future travel a lot more reasonable even if your finances don’t allow you to. Here is one of the ways I save for upcoming travel without having to budget for it:
How To Start Saving for Future Travel with Your Phone
I recently learned about this app called Fetch Rewards. Fetch Rewards is a program that allows you to get points for purchases that you’re already making by taking pictures of your receipts. These points can be redeemed for gift cards from popular retailers, but also for exciting things like travel. If you’re all ready to sign up, you can click my referral link here or you can read some reasons why I like the platform below:
1. I earn points from regular purchases like toilet paper, groceries, and snacks.
After you download the Fetch Rewards app, earning points is as easy as taking a photo. The Fetch Rewards app works by allowing you to earn points with your purchases; you earn those points by photographing your receipts and no matter what your purchases are you will at least get a minimum amount for your participation.
2. I use the points for airline gift cards like Delta and Southwest Airlines.
There’s a marketplace on the Fetch Rewards platform that allows you to buy things with the points that you have been earning. As I previously mentioned Delta and Southwest airlines, but there are even Airbnb, Uber and Hotel.com gift cards available to you as well. If you don’t plan on traveling too frequently you can also check out the gift cards to Starbucks or even to Petco! I recommend signing up to the platform and taking a look at how this can benefit you.
3. I get to have experiences just from my receipts.
Can you imagine going on a flight solely with the points that you earn from photographing receipts? Or even better booking a luxury Airbnb because you were able to get a bigger discount with the gift card stacked on top? This app can allow you to get real experiences with a minimum amount and effort so I think signing up is worth it even if you plan on only documenting your purchases casually.
4. Remember to Read my free USA Travel Guides
Now that you know how you’re going to start making money for the upcoming trip, let’s start planning it! I share free travel guides across the United States to inspire women to travel more, I also share other resources for travelers to help them plan their own trips like: which apps I use to help me book future travel, my advice when searching for accommodations and even some tips if you plan on working remotely. I look forward to hearing about your adventures!
