Planning upcoming flight travel and afraid about snoring in public while you sleep? Nearly everyone snores every now and then, but some people snore a little bit more consistently. If you want to travel comfortably, there are a few things that you can do to prepare for your upcoming trip. Here are 5 travel tips for people who snore to allow them to travel more comfortably while they sleep:
How to Travel More Comfortably if You Snore
People may not be able to hear you over normal plane noises.
If you’ve never traveled before, something to consider is all of the noise that already happens with airplane travel. From the sounds of the airplane taking flight, to the beeping noises that you can hear while you sit in your seat there is a lot going on while you are in the air and it all creates noise. Understanding that there will always be a dull roar will allow you to not feel as self-conscious about adding to the noise as you peacefully snore on the plane.
A neck pillow can give you support.
If comfort is an issue, I definitely recommend packing a neck pillow with your carry-on. Having that extra neck stability will give you the support you might be looking for as you snooze. It also helps from accidentally leaning toward a stranger to the left or right of you. There are a few different types of neck pillows that may interest you: from ones that allow you to comfortably sleep in the window seat, or lay on the food tray in front of you, as well as the more popular inflatable neck pillows that we all know about.
You can always keep your mask on to cover your face.
The last time I was catching some z’s on a plane, I decided to keep my mask on as I slept. Not only does it give you the extra bit of safety, but it allows you to have a face covering and some layers between you and everyone else. If your mask isn’t comfortable on your face (or hurts your ears) then you can always pack a scarf like this one.
Try using a nose strip while you snooze.
Snoring strips, nasal strips or other anti-snoring devices will not be the answer for everyone, but if you haven’t tried it it’s definitely worth a shot. Disregarding the noise that you make while you snore, snoring is uncomfortable and drying for you so using an anti-snoring device may allow you to get a more restful sleep with the benefit of snoring a little bit less while you do so.
Understand that it’s okay to snore.
If you haven’t noticed by now, most of my recommendations or about making you more comfortable. There are so many noises already happening on an airplane as you fly, I don’t see a reason for you to make yourself smaller. Understand that unless you’re screaming at the top of your lungs, you are allowed to make noise in public and be comfortable while doing so. Find whatever devices allow you to sleep comfortably and that’s how you will have the best sleep as someone who snores on an airplane.
Do you use any of these tips already?
Or do you have any better recommendations than this list includes? There’s nothing I love more than a good sleep while I am not home so I am open to hearing any recommendations that you have. I’m hoping that this blog post helped any of you feel a little bit less self-conscious about sleeping on a plane and now you feel a little bit better about your upcoming flight.
Love this, yes it’s hard to sleep in the plane but I rather buy these things then drug myself.
Thank you.
So true! I’m glad you enjoyed this post.

Great tips! I personally never liked falling asleep on planes so wearing a mask helps not show my wide open mouth drooling hahaha
Same, I wore a mask on my last flight & didn’t have to worry about my mouth being open lol!
